First, it was red flag memes. Then, it was “they’re a 10 but” tweets. And now, it’s “if i send you this” tweets and memes. We’re all thoroughly entertained with this new Twitter trend…except for Elon Musk, we’d imagine.
How do you get inside this Internet joke? It’s all about subtext. You start with, “if I send you…” and choose an emoji. Then, finish the sentence with what you actually want it to mean. It also works with “if I text you…” Because we have, quite possibly, too many forms of communication.
Some people are giving away their secret language, and some people are trying to spin up their stand-up career. A lucky few are doing both. And mostly everyone is doing it very aggressively. Good thing emojis are cute.
