Regencycore is the fashion trend riding the massive coattails of Netflix’s Bridgerton’s success. If 2020 was the year of sweatpants and sourdough, then 2021 will be the year of empire line dresses, high tea, and no more sourdough!

Since Bridgerton hit Netflix, searches have increased for a number of regenycore terms, like “A-line dresses,” “corsets,” “floral patterns,” and “pearl-adorned headbands.” And also “Armie Hammer?” Assuming that one’s unrelated — or is it?

The style of the show’s lead, Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor), could be described as sophisticated. She could also be described as relying heavily on Wedgwood blue – a pale grey blue color – and bedazzled with pearls and jewels. The Featherington family, meanwhile, shows up adorned in bright colors and floral patterns.

While Regencycore is fancier and royal-er than cottagecore, there are some similarities between the two styles — like flowy dresses, floral patterns, and a marked absence of LED string.

Look we may not be going anywhere until the summer, but that doesn’t mean we and our homes can’t act like it. And, apparently, steamy, escapist TV is just what fashion needed to get us out of our sweats and into something a little less “we haven’t left our house in 11 months.”

With just a few changes to your closet and decor, your style can align that of your inner queen. Here’s where to start.

Regencycore Gift Ideas

1. Hanging Wisteria Decor

Fire your gardener — these hanging wisteria plants aren’t real! Hang them from the windows… to the walls!

3. Handmade Pearl Headband, $12

Internet searches for pearl and feather headbands increased by almost 50% following the show’s premier. Here’s 100% of where our clicks went.

4. Wedgwood Hibiscus 5-Piece Place Setting, $160

Go full Bridgerton with a five-piece Wedgwood place setting in hibiscus — or piece together a set in vintage Wedgwood blue. Just remember: use silverware from the outside in!

7. Emerald Leopard Embroidered Headband, $49

This one may be pushing “sophisticated” for a Bridgerton, but we’re feeling pretty confident that a Featherington would don this intricately embroidered headband.

8. Heraldic Lion Wedgwood Blue Wallpaper, $130

You’ve got time before Regencycore is so last year. Besides, isn’t wallpaper meant to be redone every couple of weeks, anyway?

9. The Ellie Nap Dress, $125

This dress has become exceedingly popular in the past year. Because naps.

10. Large Oval Vintage Wall Mirror

11. Jewel Bow Button Cardigan, $50

Balloon sleeves, jeweled bow buttons, and blue. Daphne Bridgerton would approve if she weren’t, y’know, passed on for 150 years.

12. Antique Picture Frames

Replace your picture frames with some 19th century-inspired frames. Pack them with black and white photos of people you don’t know — or of the people who don’t know you took black and white pics of them.
