Can you and your future spouse name every planet in the Star Wars universe? Can you both give a detailed account of Darth Maul’s family tree? If you’re the nerdiest couple in your friend group, you might just need these Star Wars wedding ideas.
Also, can we join your friend group?
Star Wars Wedding Signs and Invitations
1. Star Wars Symbols Invitations
Sometimes, you want your wedding invitation to scream, “I can tell you every non-canonical detail about Mara Jade Skywalker.” And sometimes you just want that to come across in a whisper. You know, for library weddings.
For the latter, choose an invitation that has soft, subtle Star Wars details and symbols like this one. If you can call this “subtle.”
2. Han and Leia Invitations
For the sake of all things love, let’s pretend that the sequel series doesn’t exist. Just like how tons of fans do on a daily basis. Our therapist told us to work on our denial tendencies, but we don’t see a problem.
For those who prefer the original trilogy, a Han and Princess Leia invitation is the perfect way to show you love each other. (They know. They’re at your wedding.)
3. Hidden Star Wars Reference Invitation
For some people, hiding a Death Star in a wedding invitation is a faux pas. Kinda like how Darth is a faux pa.
But those people are not your people. In fact, are you sure you want to invite them? Don’t you think inviting real fans (like, for example, us) would be way more fun? We’re campaigning hard for a piece of that wedding cake, and we have no regrets.
4. Darth Meets Disney Invitations
Darth Vader invitations can be a little, well, dark. But if you and your partner love the sequel series– naysayers be darned – and want a touch of Disney magic, go for this Darth-marries-the-Disney-princess vibe.
Don’t fan-fiction-shame us.
5. Star Wars Scroll Save-the-Date Magnets
Save-the-date magnets are a great way to make it easy for your guests to keep track of your wedding date. But Star Wars save-the-date magnets are even cooler than the fridge they’ll be sitting on.
We love that these feature the signature Star Wars scroll, especially because we don’t have to pause them to read them. No we don’t have a complex about being a slow reader because of these things, why do you ask?
Star Wars Wedding Outfits and Accessories
6. Lightsaber Bouquet
You know what’s cooler than a regular ol’ bouquet? A lightsaber bouquet. And Ahsoka taught us that two lightsabers are cooler than one. So, carry a bunch of lightsaber bouquets down the aisle and try not to go, “whoomp, whoomp,” under your breath during “Here Comes the Bride.”
Better yet, forgo “Here Comes the Bride” entirely and opt for the Star Wars theme song. Your grandma will be so proud.
7. Rey-Inspired Wedding Dress
Did Rey belong with Finn? Or Poe? Or in a triad with all three, and they all love each other equally? This is canon — don’t tell us otherwise.
Regardless of who she’d marry, we think she’d love a dress like this that’s inspired by her day-to-day wear.
8. Leia’s Wedding Dress
Okay, you may think you’ve got us now, thinking, “Ha! I knew you weren’t real Star Wars fans. Leia and Han never married on screen.”
To which we say, “Double ha! They got married in the book, ‘The Princess and the Scoundrel.’ It’s real, and it’s fantastic.” Let the fan wars continue. Also, sorry about the fight we just had. Even though you started it.
9. Padme’s Veil
Padme’s wedding dress? Gorgeous. But that veil? Iconic. Is wearing a Padme-inspired look for a wedding bad luck? Not if the groom doesn’t see you before you walk down the aisle. Better carry a lightsaber in your garter for good measure.
10. Lightsaber Exit
Walking down the aisle? Opportunity for lightsabers. Walking out to your first dance? Opportunity for lightsabers. Walking to McDonald’s after because you underestimated how hungry you’d be at 1 am when the party ends? Opportunity for lightsabers.
11. Lego Star Wars Boutonniere
Marrying a partner who still plays with LEGOs is a top priority for us, because it shows they believe in never outgrowing fun.
But a partner who loves both LEGO and Star Wars enough to wear a LEGO Star Wars boutonniere? Sorry, we just passed out from swooning. What did we miss?
12. R2-D2 Wedding Ring
How do you say “I love you” in droid? With this R2-D2 wedding band, of course! Alternatively, just make up a bunch of computer noises and hope for the best. If your partner is really your soulmate, they’ll get it.
Star Wars Wedding Cakes and Food
13. Dark and Light Side Cake
Want a traditional wedding cake with a hidden surprise? Go with a cake that’s mostly light, but hiding the dark side. Like Sith Lord Jar Jar Binks. Or us when we’re hungry…just before we reach hangry.
14. Han and Leia Bride and Groom Cakes
Instead of having one big cake, why not have two in honor of the best couple in the Star Wars universe? No, not C-3PO and R2-D2, but we do stan. Go for Han and Leia-themed bride and groom cakes. Smashing these in our faces is almost acceptable.
15. White Star Wars Symbols Cake
If you like the look of a traditional white wedding cake, embrace the light side. Add in Star Wars symbols, like the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star, but have them all done the same color as the cake.
It’s a Star Wars cake that says, “I’m a Star Wars fan, but I’m not obsessive about it.” Even if your whole themed wedding says otherwise. Are you gaslighting us?
16. Star Wars Character Cupcakes
Need a little extra dessert to go with your wedding cake? How about something as cute as a baby Ewok? You can have a litany of Star Wars character cupcakes to complement your cake. Doesn’t that just take the…cupcake?
17. Force-Wielding Bar Menu
May the force be with your bartender. How many green tea shots can one human be expected to make?
With this menu, light up the night and add a cool feature to what’s usually just a simple sign. Just don’t be surprised if your guests want to play with the lightsaber after a few martinis.
18. BB-8 and R2-D2 Cake Topper
Sure, you could go with a classic Star Wars couple as a cake topper. But having a bride and groom BB-8 and Artoo cake topper is much more modern. After all, AI is about to take over our lives. Might as well beat the droids to the punch.
Eating your enemy is like, so mature.
Star Wars Wedding Reception Ideas
19. Rebel Alliance Guest Book
Invite your guests to join the rebellion by signing a Rebel Alliance-inspired guest book. Just be sure to remind them that they’re in the rebellion for life now. Continued contributions to your vacation fund will be accepted as payment.
20. Star Wars Table Names
Sitting at Table No. 8? Yawn. Sitting at Table No. BB-8? Now that’s more like it.
Just don’t put the Darth Maul table next to the Obi-Wan table. Or do, if you live for drama.
21. Lightsaber Photoshoot
Want your wedding photos to really stand out? Add in a lightsaber, or several. Bonus points if you reenact the Mustafar duel. But you lose points if your guests bail.
22. Endor-Inspired Venue
Fun fact: Endor was filmed in a redwood forest in California. Not-so-fun fact: That forest doesn’t exist anymore. But there are many spots in California where the redwoods still grow tall. You won’t spot an Ewok there, but the foxes are cute.
23. Star Wars Character Guests
Tell your friends to get in theme by dressing up as big daddy Darth Vader and his Stormtrooper posse. They will upstage the bride, but it’s worth it for the cause.
24. Star Wars Planet Centerpieces
Got a cousin known for their frosty exterior? Put them at the Hoth table. How about an aunt that you have trouble understanding who has a penchant for making “comical” errors? Put that Jar Jar-esque guest at Naboo.
In our experience, people love receiving subtle hints about their flaws!
25. Star Wars Cookie Wedding Favors
Love cookies? We know! And your guests probably do, too. So give them the gift of sweet treats as a wedding favor. Edible wedding favors are so much cooler than yet another keychain. No offense to our sister.
