Burgers. Dogs. Wings. Nachos. Guac. Yes, it’s our Christmas list. And it’s also our list of Super Bowl food ideas, because we simply can’t wait until next December.
The Super Bowl may be huge for sports fans, but it’s arguably an even bigger day for food fans. For example, don’t even bother telling us how people use football fields as a frame of reference. Just tell us how many corn-dogs-long something is and we’ll have a perfect understanding of it.
When it comes to the game day menu, ordering pizza is great (and easy) option. But this is the perfect opportunity for creative takes on classic foods.
Whip up a spread, and then order a pizza, just to flex to the delivery person that you didn’t need them after all. Be sure to still tip, though. They came all this way, and stroking your ego was not in the job description.
21 Super Bowl Food Ideas
1. Garlic Butter Parmesan Wings
Buffalo and BBQ wings are delicious, but don’t sleep on garlic parm. Mostly because they’d stain your pillowcase.
2. Vegan Buffalo Chicken Tacos
If the recent egg prices have conveyed anything, it’s that we may need to face a life without chickens soon. Instead of saying “cluck that,” here’s a vegan substitute.
3. Crockpot Baby Back Ribs
A “set it and forget it” recipe, the hardest part of these ribs is eating them without ruining your football jersey. Or rather, the hardest part is not eating all of them.
Fine, the hardest part is the bone. Stop dissecting our argument and just make the ribs, okay?
4. Brownie Batter Dip
All the fun of brownie batter, but no salmonella here! Unless you dip a raw chicken strip into it. But don’t do that.
5. Pizza Dip with Pizza Dough Balls
For the Big Game this year, take something like pizza, disassemble it, only to reassemble it again. It might be more work to put together the perfect bite, but the payoff is worth it.
6. White Chicken Chili
We love the standard bold red, but if we’re having chili, it’s a given that we’re going to get it all over our shirts. At least this one will match.
7. Smoked Shotgun Shells
We only recently learned that shotgun shells are cheese and beef stuffed inside a pasta tube, wrapped in bacon and smoked. Huh.
8. Turkey Wings
It’s been long enough since Thanksgiving that we’re not only out of leftovers, but we’re starting to really miss turkey. These turkey wings are perfect for those who don’t want to commit to a three corn-dog-long turkey leg. We’re starting to understand why the football field analogy is better.
9. Beer Brat Bites
Beer brat bites. Say that five times fast. Then look in the mirror, turn around three times. While you’re there, might as well floss. We don’t actually care what you do, we’re just trying to distract you so we can finish the rest of these.
10. Pretzel Bites with Mustard Cheese Dip
Do you want mustard or cheese? “Yes.”
11. Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos with Wontons
These are really just a sneaky way to get your trendy younger cousin to come to the game so you can ask her what the cool kids are doing. You know, for a friend.
12. Fried Bologna Sliders with Pickle Dijonnaise
Level up the elementary school lunch that always stuck to the roof of your mouth. And always ended with you debating an exorcism just to get that b-o-l-o-g-n-a song out of your head.
13. Football Whoopie Pies
Whoopie pies are way tastier than whoopie cushions, and more problematic to sit on.
14. Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots
Bacon. Wrapped. Tater. Tots. Say less. And then say more. Like, what’s a penalty?
15. Corn Dog Nuggets
You may be tempted to believe that corn dog nuggets are just mini corn dogs. But you’d be wrong. In this case, at least, corn dog nuggets are more like corn dog muffins set in puff pastry cups.
Bet you’ve never been so thrilled to be mistaken.
16. Jalapeno Popper Wonton Cups
What can we say? We WONT a TON of them. Sorry our puns aren’t better, we’ll feel better once we’ve eaten. So far we’ve only had one of everything.
17. Ranch Pretzels
For those that said “The game is on. I don’t have time to dip my own pretzels into my own ranch.” It’d be a real shame if you missed another commercial break.
18. Potato Chip Cookies with Peanut Butter
This salty and sweet combination is the perfect fake out. Fake play. Trick play. Trick out? Sports!
19. Air Fryer Armadillo Eggs
Armadillo eggs are what would happen if a jalapeno popper met a Scotch egg, fell in love, and proved that happy endings do exist. The flavorful bites consist of jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese, covered in sausage, and wrapped in bacon.
Who came up with this? And what did they do with their Nobel Prize?
20. Southwestern Chicken Egg Rolls
This snack is essentially a burrito stuffed into an egg roll pocket. Pass the dipping sauce. Or, preferably, a few of them.
21. Football Cocoa Rice Crispy Treats
Even if you don’t know anything about football, you can still agree that this snack is a total home run.
