New weather, new Fall nail trends for 2023. Before the winter fully rears its ugly head, we get a few solid months of glorious weather and fun autumnal activities. And gosh darn it, we’re going to take advantage of it!
We love following trends over here, but these new ones are especially enticing. Between the gothcore revolution, a natural nails renaissance worthy of Beyoncé herself, and the cool mixed-matte resurgence, we’re basically fully booked for the season.
We’re just gonna be doing our nails over and over again. Mark our words: invest in acetone stock now. And then keep on reading for the Fall nail trends we’re seeing all over our feeds.
The 10 Fall Nail Trends You Need to Try in 2023
1. Eyeshadow Nails
Similar to the aura nail trend that’s been everywhere this summer, eyeshadow nails utilize (you guessed it) eyeshadow for a blurred out, ombre effect. We’re talking “Blurred Lines (Non-Problematic Version)”.
It’s pretty easy to recreate, too. Simply use a fluffy eyeshadow brush, tap eyeshadow from any palette onto your nails, and then top it with a clear top coat.
2. 3D Nails
The 3D nail trend has slowly been picking up steam, and we’re finally starting to see them everywhere. These are going to be like the rainbow French tips of 2022.
Everywhere. In your dreams. Even in your nightmares. Nail polish has never been so terrifying and powerful.
3. Chocolate Nails
You know what they say about a chocolate a day… doctor’s don’t like it, so it’s great if you’re scared of doctors. Or maybe we’re mixing chocolate up with apples? Either way, deep browns are majorly trending.
Brown is not a common nail color like pink or purple, but Fall is it’s moment to shine. And to remind you to either eat more Hershey’s bars or fruit. We’re not too sure.
4. Goth Nails Trend
We’re talking Wednesday Addams, Oppenheimer, and whatever the opposite of Barbie is. Black is the new pink, and the pendulum is swinging back in her direction this Fall.
Not that Barbie can’t wear black. She can, and now that she’s a real human woman, she probably will. Especially if she moves to New York.
5. Monochrome Matte French
Matte nails always come into season around the Fall time, but we love this particular take on the style and we expect this to be on everyone’s manicure agenda this season.
Simply add a shiny top coat as a French tip over a matte nail polish base in any color for a made-you-look-twice type of finish. We know you are but am I?
6. Barely There Nails
The naked, your-nails-but-better style is gaining popularity as the maximalist nail trend begins to take a backseat for more simplicity. Everyone needs a turn at the wheel. It’s, like, road safety 101.
The best part? You never have to worry about your manicure clashing with your outfit because your nails are their normal color.
7. Classy Red
Is it cheating to put the most timeless nail color on a list of trends? Maybe. Depends how you define cheating. Was it cheating to get our neighbor to take the SATs for us? Yeah, so, anyway…
Red never goes out of style, but something about the shade in Fall just makes sense.
8. Chrome Nails
It’s almost autumn, and we’re still rocking chrome nails. When will this trend die down, you ask? Sorry, our crystal ball only works through the end of the year. Check back in 2024.
There are new variations on the trend, though. For example, this design features a French tip ombré that fades into chrome. Go crazy.
9. Short Squoval Nails
The squoval shape – square around the edges with a rounded tip – is trending, along with short nails in general. People are increasingly looking toward more natural styles.
Plus, shorter nails are easier to maintain. You know, without trying to get everyone around you to do everything for you so you can avoid chipping a nail. On second thought…
10. Micro French Tips
Similar to the barely there nude trend we’re seeing, we’re also experiencing a rise in the “micro” French tip manicure. Instead of a traditional French tip where the white part accounts for a solid chunk of your nail, this tip takes up half as much space.
The result? A feminine, flattering mani that’s easy to recreate at home. If you have a steady hand and years of experience, that is. Like, easy for you, you gorgeous manicure fairy.
