Now that the days of sweating off our makeup three minutes after we step outside of the house are over, we can finally embrace the Fall makeup trends we’re loving. This season, it’s all about the bold colors. The “clean girl aesthetic” was cute, but it’s time for the “more is more” girlies to shine.
We’re talking heavily lined eyes, bright red lips, and berry pink blush. If rolling out of bed ten minutes before you have to leave is more your style, there are a few minimalist looks on our list too. Sticking yourself in the eye with eyeliner because you’re exhausted is not the best way to start your day.
These are the Fall makeup trends for 2023 that everyone on TikTok, Instagram, and our local bus are talking about. Before you knock it, take a ride around our neighborhood. People be looking snatched.
9 Fall Makeup Trends to Try in 2023
1. Grunge Glam Eyes
Heavily lined eyes are back, baby. Where were they, you ask? Chilling with our lost pencils somewhere around 9th grade. We’re sorry for leaving you in that nasty locker, grunge glam eyes. Welcome back into the fold.
To achieve this look yourself, you need a pencil eyeliner (not liquid – it’s harder to get that blurred out effect), an eyeshadow palette with dark grays and blacks, and black mascara.

2. Dewy Skin
Luminous skin has been in for a minute now, and we have to say we’re grateful. After growing up in the matte skin generation, our face can finally breathe easy knowing every bit of moisture doesn’t need to be blotted away. Skin that looks like skin, not a cartoon illustration of skin.
Get this look by starting with a natural finish foundation or a tinted moisturizer, and then layer on some highlighter. Our life’s motto is that you can never have too much highlighter. Oh sorry, did we blind you?

3. Bold Red Statement Lips
Your lips should make a statement. Like, “I’m hungry,” or “When’s lunch?” We can’t help you with those concerns, but we can give your lips some sass with a bold red lipstick. For the former, might we direct you towards the fridge?
Red lips are always a classic choice, but especially in the Fall, you can’t go wrong with ’em. This season, we’re seeing tons of celebs – including the queen of beauty, Lady Gaga – embrace the bold. Start with a red lip liner so the color doesn’t bleed, and then top with either a liquid lipstick for a glossier finish, or a matte color.

4. Skincare Makeup
No makeup-makeup, or skincare makeup, is all the rage right now, and we don’t see it slowing down for Fall 2023.
The idea is for your makeup to double as your skincare, rather than, ya know, clogging your pores and making you break out so you have to repeat the cycle forever and give all your money to the beauty industry. Did we just debunk the whole idea of makeup in one sentence?

5. Colorful Smoky Eyes
A traditional smoky eye look consists of various shades of browns, grays, and blacks. But it’s 2023. Up is down, left is right, cats are dogs. Okay, scratch that last one, or our cat with scratch us. You get the picture – it’s time to shake things up.
We’re seeing a rise in colorful smoky eyes on our feeds. Just as much pigment and contrast, in a more colorful palette. And it’s easy to recreate – you just need bright pigments and a steady hand. We can’t help you with that last part.

6. Faux Laminated Brows
Brow lamination is an increasingly popular beauty trend where you basically get an eyebrow perm that holds the hair in the slicked-up shape that’s in style right now. If you want to try before you buy, so to speak, you can opt for faux lamination instead.
All you need to get this look is some brow sculpting gel and a brow pen to fill in any gaps. The style embraces bushy hair up there, while still keeping it under control. If it’s so bushy that you can’t read your texts, you did something wrong.

7. Berry Pink Blush
We’re berry pleased to meet you. Even though we’ve been chatting for several minutes at this point. Did anyone offer you water when you got here?
Brighter blush colors are trending right now, thanks to the strawberry makeup trend started by Hailey Bieber and an overall acceptance of more color after years of neutral superiority. Choose a brighter tone of blush than you might normally gravitate towards, and you too can be an “it girl.” In a cool way, not an Addams Family cousin way.

8. Latte Makeup
If your feeds look like ours, you might have been hearing a lot about this new latte makeup trend rolling around the block. She just got rollerblades. Be nice!
Latte makeup essentially focuses on bringing in lots of different shades of browns and nudes – on your eyes, cheeks, and lips – for a complete look that sort of resembles a latte. No, it doesn’t involve pouring coffee on yourself. That’s just Monday.

9. 90s Makeup
Lined lips, brown gloss, eyeliner and mascara under the eye, natural brows. These pieces a 90s makeup look do make. We turned into Baby Yoda for a second there because we’re so distracted by this gorgeous trend.
Everything 90s is having a total revival right now, so of course the makeup is getting its moment, too. You might even be able to recreate it with stuff you already have. As long as they’re not, like, actually from the 90s. Check the expiration dates, people.
