The month of March means teddy bears and heart-shaped chocolates have been kicked off the shelves by clovers and Guinness-flavored everything. It’s also the time of year when orange and green overtake everything, especially with these St. Patrick’s Day nail colors.
Let’s be honest. There are some greens that look like kale and battery acid passed through a pigeon. But there are others that evoke the sound of birds chirping and the smell of spring. And even if you’re not a fan of any shade of green, orange and gold are huge contenders on St. Patty’s Day, too.
Between these two colors, there’s no shortage of options for festive nail designs. And there’s no better way to sport a great shade or two than by using those 10 tiny canvases at your fingertips. And once you’re out of Hobby Lobby jail for trying to shoplift tiny canvases, you can de-stress by painting your nails with these seasonal nail polishes.
18 St. Patrick’s Day Nail Colors, Including Greens and Oranges In Every Shade
1. Cirque Colors Nail Polish in Pistachio, $14.50
The light, moss green color is beautifully earthy on its own. But the little black specks add some intrigue that makes this color feel as fancy as pistachios are. And weirdly, has us craving mint chip ice cream. Anyone else?
2. OPI GelColor in A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find
We don’t know if the makers of this nail polish are unlucky in love, but we do know that we are in love with this St. Patrick’s Day nail color. And also unlucky, just generally. You would not believe how many lotteries we’ve lost.
3. 10+ Free in Leaf Me Be, $12
Fun fact: the name of this nail polish came from a conversation with a head of lettuce who was talking like Yoda, and introduced himself as “Leaf, me be.” Despite how long our nose is getting right now, we swear we’re telling the truth.
4. Londontown Lakur in Bee’s Knees
This one sneaks a little autumn energy into the palate, but any time of year, the color’s got us buzzin’. On second thought, that might be the bee that’s trapped in our apartment. We lead him toward the light every evening, but he seems to like it here.
5. Ella+Mila Nail Polish in Emerald Memories, $10.50
Our emerald memories are of him saying “Bam!” Oh wait, that’s Emeril. Maybe our memory isn’t so good after all.
6. ILNP in Empire
Slap on this shimmery polish and start manifesting a short king to join you in ruling your empire. Or just to see the new Avatar movie. Close enough.
7. OPI Nail Lacquer in Stay Off the Lawn!!
They may say the same things, but this nail polish is definitely more pleasant than our crotchety neighbor Mr. Jenkins, significantly more green, and it’s infinitely less confusing to find it sitting on our dressers.
8. Bruccia Nail Hardener in Beth’s Orange, $5.99
We’d like to meet this Beth, since she clearly has great taste. Although we do have to wonder if this nail polish name came about because someone meant to grab the folder of possible names and accidentally grabbed Beth’s mail instead. Mail fraud is not a joke, Jim.
9. Ingzy in Metallic 01
For everything this St. Patrick’s Day nail color lacks in name creativity, it makes up in boldness. You can’t get more “gold” than this. And, it has no problem speaking its opinion. Watch out.
10. OPI Nail Lacquer in I’m Sooo Swamped
Of course this St. Patrick’s Day nail color is pretty, but it has an unfair advantage – we love anything that reminds us of Shrek.
11. 10+ Free in Girls Just Wanna Have Sun, $12
Ah. Yay. Sun.
*Laughs in a way that’s definitely not nervous and super definitely not vampiric*
12. Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in In-Vest in Style
“Invest in style?” Big respect to a bottle that takes its own advice. And also to any inanimate object that gives advice. Can you help us with our taxes next, stapler?
13. Cirque Colors in Tequila Sunrise, $16.50
This nail polish is thermal, so it changes color based on temperature. It’s red when cold, and yellow when warm. We’d like to see its namesake cocktail do that.
14. essie in Good As Gold
This slightly more understated gold polish can seamlessly transition from a rowdy St. Patrick’s Day parade to that work meeting you totally didn’t forget that you had the next day. Of course dogs can eat PowerPoint presentations.
15. Smith & Cult in Darjeeling Darling, $18
This deep green is described as “opaque jaded forest green,” so we share a couple traits. Jaded: definitely. Opaque: yes, because unfortunately we’re not Danny Phantom. Why do you think we’re jaded?
16. ORLY Nail Lacquer in Valley of Fire, $10.50
The St. Patrick’s Day nail color is stunning, but if we’re being honest, we’d wear it just for the awesome name. We wouldn’t if it was like, puce or something. Sorry, dirty purple polish. Get a better marketing team next time.
17. Dazzle Dry Nail Lacquer in Citrus Streak, $22
Pro: Looks good. Con: Will not prevent scurvy.
18. Bruccia Nail Hardener in Neon Bright Green, $5.99
Is it the most creative name? No. But we’re suckers for accuracy. And blinding people when we’re out at night.
