Gomez Addams is creepy and kooky, and he wifed up Morticia. In doing so, he created one of the happiest and healthiest couples in the history of cinema. If you’re dressing up as Morticia this All Hallow’s Eve, we’ve got everything you need for the perfect Gomez Halloween costume. You just work on your tango.
If you’re anything like us, you’ll be re-watching Wednesday on Netflix to get into the spooky mood. This year’s Target Halloween collection has already dropped, so it’s officially time to start costume shopping (with a pumpkin spice latte in hand, of course).
While everyone else is dressing up as Wednesday, you can serve Daddy energy instead. Plus, no one looks bad in a pinstriped suit, and that’s a fact we stand by. That includes you, Penguin!
Gomez Addams Through the Years
This iconic character has been played (and voiced) by many actors through the decades, but it all started when Gomez made his debut in Charles Addams’ cartoons for The New Yorker in the 1940s.
Since, he’s been played by John Astin in the 60s, Raul Julia in the classic 90s Addams Family movies, Nathan Lane in the 2010 musical version, and, most recently, Luis Guzman in Wednesday.
Clearly something about this passionate and delightfully morbid family has stuck, and boy are we here for it. Maybe it’s the fact that while everyone thinks they’re weird, they’re their authentic selves nonetheless and the Gomez and Morticia have a healthy, passionate marriage? Or maybe it’s Thing.
Though each iteration of Gomez has been slightly different, they all share a few things: slicked-back black hair, a pinstriped suit, and, of course, a black mustache.

How to Make a Gomez Addams Halloween Costume
1. Short Black Hair and Black Mustache
Gomez Addams is known for his iconic suave, mustachioed look. You can nail the vibe with a short black wig and a stick-on mustache or face paint.
If you’ve already got short hair, just slick it back with some gel and black hair spray. Warning: this costume may become your everyday look. No, coworkers, it’s not a filter. It’s a way of life.
2. The Iconic Pinstripe Suit
Gomez’s style has shifted here and there over the years, but he’s always got a black-and-white striped suit in his wardrobe.
3. White Collared Shirt
Even Gomez Addams can’t live without the basics. A white collared shirt is a staple in any wardrobe. Plus, when Halloween’s over, you can slay like all the TikTok girlies who are bringing back menswear.
(Slay in a cute way, not a vampire way.)

4. Wine Red Bow Tie
When it comes to neck accessories, feel free to mix it up a bit (because Gomez sure has). He’s been seen in a black tie, red bow tie, and most recently in a luxe vampy red neck tie.
5. Shiny Black Dress Shoes
Gomez Addams is a class act, and his shoes round out the look. It’s giving 1950s patriarch, but we know that’s not how he rolls. Mostly because he’s walking them behind Morticia and worshiping the ground she stands on. That’s not what happened in the ’50s?
6. Thing Hand
The Addams Family is tight knit, and Thing is always there to catch you if you fall. Well, at least he’ll try. Thing is Gomez’s right-hand man… and happy to lend an extra hand whenever you need one of those.
It’s us. We need one. We’re drowning out here. Bueller? Thing??

7. Wedding Ring
This one isn’t optional, folks. You aren’t Gomez Addams without your undying commitment to Morticia, so put a ring on it and then show that thing off.
Just remember: at the end of the day, the ultimate accessory is endless devotion. Cheez-Its work too.
