Marvel is quite possibly the largest movie franchise of our lifetime–sorry Star Wars. Maybe try another galaxy? Anyways, it’s very easy to draw inspiration from the series when it comes to brainstorming Marvel Halloween costume ideas.
There are tons of characters to choose from, whether you’re drawing inspiration from the MCU, from the comic books, or even from a movie produced by Sony. We know that looking at the full list of Marvel characters can be daunting, so we narrowed it down to the best of the best.
Although, if you did dress up as Hellcow, you probably would be the only one.
These costume ideas range from complex (painting your entire body green to become Gamora) to simple (putting on a leather jacket to transform into Jessica Jones). Regardless, one of these costumes is bound to be endgame.
25 Marvel Halloween Costume Ideas
1. Thor and Loki
Name a more iconic duo, we’ll wait. Thor and Loki are the perfect costume for siblings who just love to hate each other.
2. Sylvie Laufeydottir
We love Lokis of all forms and Sylvie is one of them. We’re all for dressing up like a revolutionary (a former child convict) trying to fight The Man (the TVA).
3. Gwen Stacy
Thanks to the Spiderverse series of movies, we got to see Gwen Stacy as more than just another casualty in Peter Parker’s life. If you’ve always wanted to dye your hair pink and learn how to drum, here’s your chance. And who amongst us hasn’t, really?
4. She-Hulk
There are a surprising number of Marvel heroes with law degrees, but none of them are quite like She-Hulk. Embrace her lawyer persona and discover the perfect excuse to use that pair of jeans you ripped bending over last week.
5. Gamora
If you needed an excuse to paint yourself green–other than performing Wicked in your bedroom on a Saturday night–this is the costume for you. Use green eyeshadow to give yourself this humanoid look.
6. Storm
All you need for a Storm costume is a white wig of any length, and a black catsuit. For added flair, get some white contacts. That way people know it’s you controlling the weather, not the government. Next, we’ll prove that birds aren’t real.
7. Spider Punk
This character took almost three years to animate for the latest Spiderverse film. Hopefully it doesn’t take you that long to decide on a costume. If it does, then maybe we should just tell you to wear this one.
8. Star-Lord
It’s pretty easy to dress as our favorite ‘80s-loving ravager. You’ll need a brown leather jacket, a walkman, and t-shirt, preferably with writing that allegedly translates to “Space Candy.”
Though our bet is that it actually reads “Best Chris” – he really needs more people on his side.
9. Kate Bishop
Dress up as Kate Bishop, recruit an older male friend to be your Hawkeye. Unfortunately, most parties or bars won’t let you bring in a real bow and arrow, but a NERF one might work. Or just get really good at imagining.
10. Jessica Jones
This is definitely one of the easier costumes on the list. Just grab a black leather jacket, some fingerless gloves, and a camera. Sure, people might accuse you of failing to dress up, but you can use your superhuman strength (read: candy) to distract them.
11. Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers
Captain Marvel (aka Carol Danvers) can go one of two ways. You can either embrace the leather jacket vibe, or you can go the superhero suit route, boot covers and all. Either way, we will be checking to make sure you’re not a skrull.
12. Black Widow
We’ve all dreamed of looking like Scarlett Johansson. And while that may be a pipe dream, this Black Widow costume is pretty easy to do.
All you need is a red wig and a black cat suit. Unfortunately, the outfit does not come with fighting abilities, but that’s what martial arts classes are for.
13. Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch is easily one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. She created an entire fictional town, and then tried to bring it back by traveling to different Earths–all on her own.
Make it even more authentic by changing up your accent throughout the night like Elizabeth Olsen did across the movies.
14. Princess Shuri
The princess of Wakanda is the smartest person in any room. Actual intelligence doesn’t come with the costume, but you can fake it. Men get away with it all the time.
15. Captain America
This costume is one step short of walking around waving a giant flag and chanting “USA, USA.” But, we definitely wouldn’t mind being nicknamed America’s…booty. On second thought…
16. The Wasp
In the comic books, she is credited as a founding member of The Avengers, which is clearly a grand oversight in the MCU.
But we guess we forgive them. Mostly because this costume is the perfect opportunity to repurpose the wings from your Bee Movie costume. Oh, was that just us?
17. Spiderman (Peter Parker)
“With great power comes great responsibility.” Luckily, when you don this suit, the responsibility is fictional. You do still have to feed your dog, though.
18. Wanda Maximoff
If you are looking to get meta, you can dress up as Wanda dressed up as comic book Scarlet Witch for Halloween. We had to re-read that sentence several times too.
The only thing that would make it more confusing would be if they set it in a fake world with fake children and a fake husband who was also dressed as himself…oh wait.
19. Spiderman (Miles Morales)
Like Miles Morales, you are in control of your own story, so you have the power to choose this costume. We just hope that you don’t find out that your uncle is a super villain trying to kill you. That would be way too specific.
20. Sue Storm
The Invisible Girl herself is yet another costume where one may need to get a catsuit, but at least this one is blue.
For legal reasons, we don’t recommend going on uncommissioned space travel to try to get into character. But we hear the NASA base is nice this time of year.
21. Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel, aka Kamala Khan, lives every teenager’s dream by becoming her hero, and quite literally stepping into the shoes of Captain Marvel.
She proves that manifestation does work. All you have to do is attend a convention dressed up as them and write some fan fiction. Let us know how that goes.
22. The Mighty Thor (Jane Foster)
She is the best version of Thor. Even Mjolnir knows that, and honestly Thor Odinson probably does too. Not that he’d ever admit it.
23. Shuri – Black Panther
After the death of her brother, Princess Shuri takes on the role of the Black Panther. She is an icon to girls everywhere and an easy costume to DIY.
The only thing that might be difficult to get is the vibranium, as Wakanda does not give it out to just anyone. Good thing you have the full-size candy bars.
24. Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix
Get a taste of evil with this costume. Show the power radiating through your body using red and gold eyeliner. For the record, we are Team Sophie Turner.
25. Peggy Carter
Bust out your heated curlers and your favorite green wool knit jacket for this one. Adorn it with gold pins of your choice. All you need is a team of Super Soldiers to oversee and you can practically be the real thing.
Don’t have Super Soldiers? Well, that’s alright, a pack of well-trained dogs works too.
